Event Calendar Improvements

The new website looks great (good choice of Ghost + Discourse). I had a few suggestions, especially towards events:

  • While the past events linked to the ticketing URL, the future ones don’t seem to link anywhere. Could that perhaps be enforced? It is very unclear at the moment that some of the events are paid right now.
  • The events don’t have a end time set, and as a result, the “add the calendar widget” adds a no-time event on the calendar (which most calendars will show as a 5 minute block). Would be nicer if the end times for events could be set as well, so that events can be properly scheduled.

Aside: Could the registration for both forum and site be merged into one? Maybe discourse-on-ghost could help?

Hey @nemo

Love the feedback!

  • We’ve taken care of the ticketing links showing up for past events. It will now only appear on upcoming events. (But not all our events are ticketed, so not for all of them.)
  • The add to calendar feature is not available anymore. We’ve just moved from a third-party events widget (which had its limitations) to a completely custom-built one. This means that we’re missing some features that were available previously. But we’ll keep this in mind when we make changes to our events widget in the future.
  • Discourse-on-ghost looks promising. Not sure if it’ll work because of the way we’re hosting things right now. But it’s certainly worth giving it a try. Thanks for sharing the link!

Discourse on ghost implemented!

Thanks for the suggestion!
